At Super Bowl LV, two was better than one when it came to the performance of the National Anthem when Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan offered a stunning rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Taking to the center of the field, Church appeared in a purple denim jacket playing his guitar to a slower, syncopated version of the anthem. After singing through the first lines of the song, Church turned it over to Sullivan, dressed in a white jacket with matching wide-legged pants and a dazzling jewel head piece, who offered up her stunning R&B vocals to put her own spin on the anthem.

The pair were soon joined by a full backing band as they duetted on the track, as fireworks exploded above Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, FL. The two largely let their contrasting sounds coexist throughout the song’s finish, with Church putting his classic country twang on the anthem, while Sullivan riffed and ran through the song’s end.

Sullivan and Church were just two of the stars to kick off Super Bowl LV on Sunday evening — R&B star H.E.R. offered a stunning rendition of “America the Beautiful” just moments before the anthem, while poet Amanda Gorman offered a beautiful poem before the game officially began, with The Weeknd set to rock the halftime set.
