Nick Jonas was the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live

D’Angelo headed to Harlem’s Apollo Theater for his Saturday night (Feb. 27) Verzuz, performing live solo before inviting artists like H.E.R., Method Man and Redman onstage. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a seventh week
“Drivers License” logged a seventh week at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100, encompassing its entire run on the chart so far. “Enhancing the song’s profile in the tracking week, NBC’s Saturday Night Live aired a skit Feb. 20 in tribute to its popularity,” Billboard’s Gary Trust notes. The 2021 Golden Globe Awards featured some big music wins
With Tina Fey hosting from New York City and Amy Poehler hosting from Los Angeles, the 2021 ceremony was the most unusual one yet, but it had some exciting artist-focused moments. Andra Day won the Globe for actress in a drama motion picture for her portrayal of jazz singer Billie Holiday in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, while Diane Warren, Laura Pausini and Niccolò Agliardi won for best original song, and Jon Batiste, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross took home the award for best original score. With the K-pop girl group’s successful crossover on American radio airwaves with their English-language single “Star,” and their debut on the Pop Airplay chart with the song, all twelve members are finally having their breakthrough moment. “It took a long time to debut as a whole, but I’m proud that we’ve created our own unique characteristics,” Chuu told Billboard. BTS received the 2020 IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award
Congrats to BTS, who have landed the annual honor that recognizes an act’s worldwide popularity across streaming and sales, including vinyl, downloads and CDs. BTS are also IFPI’s first champ to perform primarily in a language other than English. And, of course, they become the first South Korean and first Asian act to take the title. Read more here.

BTS is added to our running list of the greatest pop stars from 1981 to 2020. Billboard’s Mia Nazareno writes, “But after half a decade of internationally successful tours, three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, and a steadily amassed fan ARMY that includes followers from all over the world, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — better known as the world-conquering boy band BTS — heralded the genre’s true U.S. breakthrough, and became the greatest pop stars of 2020.” Read more here.
